Luke learned to harmonize singing hymns around the supper table with his parents and six siblings. Hefound the music that moved him when he started sneaking into clubs and music halls in Houston, Texasto hear red dirt country songwriters like Jerry Jeff Walker, Willis Alan Ramsey, B.W. Stevenson, and the original “cosmic cowboy,” Michael Martin Murphey. His love for music is broad. He learned jazz ata performing arts high school. Since he's been old enough to drink, he's directed the junior choir at anEpiscopal cathedral, been hired to play for university musicals, and won a bluegrass festival songwriting contest. He's played everything from metal to quiet acoustic music in countless bars and restaurants. He started writing songs at age 14, but it's been fairly recently that he has written songs that other people might want to hear.
